Idea 1: Masks
One question no one seems to be asking when it comes to opening or resuming school during the covid-19 pandemic is this: how can we help?
The point of these videos is to change that.
Starting tonight and each evening through Sunday, August 2, we’re giving you one idea to help schools during covid-19.
To help schools reopen or resume school in this craziest of back to school seasons.
If you’re a pastor, a parent, a business owner, a non profit leader, these ideas are ways you can be part of the solution. Opinions on school are cheap but action is where it’s at. Acting on just one or two of these ideas could make an incredible difference in the life of a principal, a teacher, a school.
And, if you’re a principal, teacher, counselor, social worker, these ideas are meant to start conversations and get you items and resources for whatever school looks like whether that’s next week, next month, or next year. Share these ideas with those in your circles as ways to help you as an educator.
And full disclosure: some of these ideas may not work. Some of these ideas may be too expensive for you. Some of these ideas may elicit the “Well, but . . .” from ya. I want to say from the get go that’s okay.
Maybe the idea sparks another idea that leads to a need getting met.
Maybe the idea helps you get a partner for your classroom.
Maybe the idea is no longer needed because of things continue evolve.
But, maybe the idea does work.
Maybe the idea does give you a way to help a school.
Encourage a teacher.
Support a principal.
Serve students and families.
Sound good? Sound fun?!
Ok, let’s do this.
Today’s idea: masks
Now I’m not going to get into the debate our culture is having about masks.
What I am going to talk about is this: for many of you- teachers, principals, parents with kiddos who go to school, masks will be required or highly encouraged for live in person teaching.
So, there’s the opportunity. There’s the idea: masks.
Maybe it’s a business sending a school a case or pallet worth of those disposable type masks.
Maybe it’s a team at a church making masks for a school. I know several church groups who have been doing this for medical places and even with community food distributions we’ve had groups make us masks.
Maybe it’s a church or business showing a school some love by gifting teachers and staff some really cool designer masks or giving them the option to pick out a mask and then giving it to them.
And here’s a side business idea for anyone out there for FREE(!): masks with school logos or colors! You can get this done online I am sure but maybe you take that idea and run with it too, but how cool would it be for teachers and staff and students to have masks with the school’s colors and logos on em?!
What do you think about the idea? Real or not? Helpful or not?

Or maybe you’re like yes! I so need some masks! Our class so needs some.
Drop a comment below and perhaps, just maybe, there’s someone in our community who’s willing to meet that need for ya.
